Matchstick Cats and Dogs

I thought, for a change, that I'd put the spotlight on something different: painting. One of my all time favourite painters is Laurence Stephen Lowry, an English painter of the last century. He is best known for his paintings of England's industrial north, featuring his "matchstick men" leaving and entering the factory gates. What really appeals to me is the deceptive simplicity of his work, in fact when he first began painting his work was ridiculed as being childish, however there is such an honesty and affection for his subject matter that he is perhaps one of the more accessible painters throughout history (and perhaps this is what threatened the elitists who were so quick to disregard him).

This is a particularly good example.
And here is some more information on the man himself.

That's all for now, TTFN
